Where Can I Serve?
We believe that each member of Parkersburg First Assembly has a special gift and place of ministry. Scripture states, “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God” (I Peter 4:10). The Lord has gifted His people for the purpose of ministering to His Church and the world! Scripture makes clear that there is no such thing as a “non-gifted” follower of Jesus Christ. Whether you are a five-year old child, a ninety-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant church community. Here are just a few ways you can get involved!

Mission Outreach
First Assembly is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in sending missionaries and supporting these missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We will be organizing periodic short term missions trips in order to encourage the young and old alike to realize their part in the Great Commission to “Go into all the world” with The Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are also involved in reaching our own community. Opportunities to serve the homeless and those who are struggling here at home are provided. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.
Ushers & Welcome Team
The usher team at First Assembly fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction and generally ensuring that the service can proceed in a safe and problem-free environment. The usher and First Impression team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.
Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of First Assembly. Sound technicians and multi-media techs are needed each service, as well as website savvy techs who like to update information on our web page. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded for those desiring copies of the messages. We also maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.
Tuesday Morning Prayer Gathering 10am
First Assembly is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereign activity in this world. Answered prayer is the “daily bread” of God’s children. Each Tuesday from 10am-11am our sanctuary is open for intercessory prayer. The need for prayer cannot be overestimated.
Nursery & Toddler Church**
First Assembly is blessed with many infants and toddlers. Our Toddler Church ministers to 3-5 yr olds (2 yr olds if child is potty trained). A nursery is provided for Sunday during our services, as well as a “Mommy and Me” room for nursing mothers.
First Kids **
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, First Assembly provides First Kids children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity.
Cross Current Youth Group**
Friday evenings at 6pm we give middle school and high school students the opportunity to experience and express their faith in community through solid Biblical teaching, authentic worship and age appropriate fun. Under the leadership of Pastor Chris and Rebekah Hunt, volunteers are utilized for special events, “Destination Unknown” trips and providing guidance and encouragement to our youth.
Men’s and Women’s Ministries
Hosting and participating in these gatherings is a great way to connect with others in your church family and community! If you’d like to get “plugged in”, the pastoral staff will be more than glad to assist in this endeavor.
**(Note: all ministries to minors require background checks and Reducing the Risk training for all adults desiring to be involved in this ministry).
